The CRM 4.0 E-mail Router with POP3
With CRM 4.0 off and running now, I’ve been seeing a lot of questions on how to get the E-mail Router to work with POP3 mail access. I’ve recorded a video of how you can take a Gmail mailbox and hook it up to a Queue inside of CRM via the E-mail Router.
Enjoy! Next video…using the E-mail Router with an individual Exchange mailbox!

Michael,
Very informative video. We provide the Microsoft CRM integration to Lotus Notes and Novell GroupWise. We would love to provide an adapter so that the CRM 4 Email Router can integrate with those email systems. Do you know where can we find the documents explaining the api for developing these adapaters.
Michael, first of all great blog. It has come in handy quite a bit. My question though, is that I’ve set up my email router exactly as you did to access Gmail, but I keep receiving this message when I test: ‘Failure – No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it’. Any thoughts on what the problem is?
Same here Luke: “Incoming Status: Failure – No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it”
Have you managed to find a solution for this ?
Great Blog Michael. Thanks for the video was very informative!
Using the POP3 service in the CRM Router would be great except how do you get the router to delete the email from the POP3 mail box?
Because the email is not deleted on the server side, the CRM Router keeps downloading the same email over and over causing massive duplicates. There must be a way for the CRM Router to delete the email off the Email Server after it downloads the email. ????

One question: Is Novell Groupwise a standard pop3/smtp mailserver?
Another question – I watched the demo and setup myself a gmail integration for testing. But I can only make it recieve mails – when I test send facility, it fails. Can anyone make a hint on if this is possible?
Now I got the POP email router to function correctly. But my customer don’t like this:
Think this situation on a user:
Primary Email: test@gmail.com
First name: Donald
Last name: Duck
When I send an email the reciever gets a mail from “test@gmail.com”. But my customer would like “Donald Duck” as sender (normally “Donald Duck” syntax).
Any clue how to solve this problem.
HINT:
It seems that the email router grabs “Primary Email” as sender.
I tried to put “Donald Duck” as sender in Primary Email, but CRM won’t allow.
I tried to make a javascript that On Save updated Primary Email field to “Donald Duck” . That succeded – but no difference in the email sent from the email router.
Does CRM 4.0 integrate with Lotus Notes?
Just wanted to say hello
Rimsky went look closer buy cytotec dead hand daughters.
Any advise as to how to configure CRM to send mail using a gmail or other pop account?
thx.
Trying to install the Email Router and running into the following issue when performing the configuration:
Email Router Configuration Manager- Explains that it cannot connect to the CRM website. http://crmserver:5555/orgname are all correct. I’ve tried multiple ways to try and get this to work, any ideas?
I’ve also copied the full CRM link after logging into CRM, which includes the /loader.aspx at the end of the link.
Running out of options. Can’t get past this simple step to try and use SMTP
CopenhagenCRM,
How were you ableto configure the Outgoing POP3 email? I was also using Gmail’s smtp.gmail.com server but it keeps failing as an unrecognized server. Can you tell me what you did to make the outgoing email work?
Using CRM Online 4.0 – The problem I have is workflow emails clog up my Outlook since they are always sent from me to other users. And if I’m not logged in to Outlook, nobody gets workflow emails. How can I make outgoing workflow emails work with POP3 email like Gmail, so I can assure workflow emails are being sent irregardless of whether I’m logged in to my Outlook?

I think few people agree with you, but I am among them.

This is quite a up-to-date info. I’ll share it on Facebook.
Зачем вводить такое мнение, что всё таким только образом? Я считаю, почему не раскрыть этот обзор.
Its really awesome. Thanks for the great blog…
Is Exchange Server mandatory for offline clients? In the case of Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Microsoft Office Outlook with Offline Access can we use POP3 server with Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-Mail router with Forward Mailbox option or E-mail Router option?
Super-Duper site! I am loving it!! Will come back again – taking your feeds too now, Thanks.
I’m Out!
Michael,
an excellent well structured web presentation answering a thousand questions (OK alot of questions) with a practical and easy to follow presentation of a practical solution. Again I found myself coming into an organisation where GroupWise as its mail server – but deploying the rst of MS Office products. Looking for a CRM solution, GroupWise dis not lend itself to let MS CRM show off its strengths, but now that may be a different story!
any one has a solution for Allan Browning’s question i have the same problem customer wants to delete email from pop3 server when after crm received it
any help would be appreciate
thanks
